Eat locally
There are so many benefits to eating locally that listing them all here would simply take too long. Here are a few great reasons:
1) With less transit time, locally grown produce is fresher (which means it usually tastes better too).
2) Local food is usually more “green” for the environment. (Thanks again to the reduced transit time.)
3) When you eat locally, you help sustain local farms and contribute to your local economy.
Today, identify a place where you can purchase some locally grown food. Or better yet, identify a local farm that supplies your market. Make an effort to purchase local food the next time you go to the store.

I love shopping at the River Market in town, nice people, festive surroundings, fresh grown delectable food, and all at less than half the price of the local grocery store. You can’t beat that. The only downfall, is that most of the vendors are only there on Saturday.. bummer.
I enjoy the farmer’s markets in the area, when I can get to them. The fruits and veggies always have more flavor. I’m going to re-double my efforts to get there.
I can remember going to the farmer’s markets with my dad when I was younger. We don’t seem to have them around here much anymore but there is a place fairly local that I love to visit. I haven’t been there in a while and now seems to be a good time to visit it again.
This is a fantastic website for helping you find local foods. They started in 1996 and have been gathering information for places across the U.S. since then:

Our locals are just now able to start planting. I grow my own chilis, tomatoes, and herbs.
