Onion lovers: It’s time to break out of your yellow and white onion rut and enhance your game! Scallions, or green onions, are tender young onions that are harvested when they’re still green. Their delicate flavor and pleasantly tender crunch makes them a delightful addition to literally hundreds of sauces, crusts, soups, stews, salads, and other dishes. Scallions peak in spring and summer and are best stored in a plastic bag in your produce crisper. Today, challenge yourself to discover their unique flavor and texture.

    i’ve incorporated scallions and green onions into our weekly meals. i make it a mission to always try new things in my household. i try to teach my kids to experiment with new foods and flavors.

    Scallions are great in salads. Perfect for stir fry and a quick snack roll inside a piece of meat or cheese.

    Eating scallions is easy. Cut into pieces and throw into salad or stir fry meals.

    I love scallions in my salad, but I end up throwing so much away because they are sold is big bags. So I changed that. I purchased scallions I can grow myself. That way I use what I need and there is no waste!

    Scallions…no need to challenge me to eat them…im actually growing them in my herb garden and LOVE snipping them and adding them to my salads, tacos, stir fries or anything else i want to add a fresh oniony flavor to…

    Have some onion greens that I harvested today. I like to trim them back so the plants take their time and the onions get large. When it’s time to thin it’s scallions galore.

    We eat these plain as a snack or dipped in ranch dressing. They are very mild and a great onion to start with if someone hasn’t tried onions or doesn’t like onions. I love them and so do my kids!

    This challenge was more for my husband’s benefit. I decided to make chicken teriyaki at home instead of heading off to the local Japanese restaurant. It was fun cooking it with my husband at home and using fresh scallions and ginger.

    My neighbor grew some scallions in their yard this summer and gave a huge bag. I cleaned, chopped, and froze them and use them often. They add great flavor to my dishes

    We use scallions on alot of things. Salads, mexican, on soups, in and on dips. They are a wonderful addition to many foods. The sa la vie!

    I use scallions in ramen noodles to add texture and a little bit of a different flavor to the noodles. I’m actually going to be using them to add flavor to baked “fried” chicken. Scallions rock!

    I love scallions slow cooked in alittle bit of olive oil. And raw in a salad or on abaked potatoe. I use them all the time.

    I use scallions A LOT. They are very good in salads and I also add them to my baked mac & cheese. Adds some bite as well as color!!

    I love grilling scallions, with a little olive oil, some salt, pepper and garlic powder. Recently, a friend introduced me to something similar. The tops of the garlic that he grows in his garden. Very nice! Going to be a substitute for scallions. Try it.
