Change your light bulbs
Artificial lighting accounts for 15% of the typical household’s energy use. By using new lighting technologies like compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) you could reduce your lighting energy use by 50 to 70%. This weekend, make a trip to your local hardware store and buy some CFLs. Then, change some (or all) of the light bulbs in your house.
(We’ve given you 2 days for this Challenge. When you log your progress, you only need to log as many – or as few – days as are applicable.)
How funny! We just bought a bunch of the more energy efficient bulbs yesterday at Target. Not only will it help lower our utility bills, it seems to have brightened the rooms that we are now using them.
I have been using compact fluorescent light bulbs for some time. I think they are great. They save money and last a lot longer than regular bulbs.
Mine were sitting on the shelf in my laundry room, so I just got up and replaced some traditional bulbs — Yay! Thanks for the encouragement to make the change!
I am already using CFLs inside my house, I just need to find some outdoor bulbs.
the CFLs are awesome they actually work.
I’ve replaced two lightbulbs so far with these. I’m replacing them as they burn out.
I have been converted to CF for years.
I have recently converted my mom and dad.
CFL’s ae so easy to find now and so much improved. Don’t miss your power companys lightbulb exchanges, you bring in old light bulbs and get new CFL’s. If you already have enough CFL’s then do it anyway and share the CFL’s with friends and get them on the energy saving bandwagon too!
