Clean up your mattress
We spend nearly a third of our lives sleeping, yet few of us see fit to ensure we’re snoozing on nontoxic mattresses. Conventional mattresses can contain synthetic and chemical-laden foams, chemically treated wood, and adhesives (not to mention flame retardants). Safer options include natural fiber mattresses, untreated wood, and natural latex. Today, challenge yourself to assess the safety of your current mattress and come up with a saving plan for a new one. Alternatively, if you can’t afford a new organic mattress, you can cover your old mattress with an organic wool or latex pad to reduce contact with toxins.
